Damage prevention technology
A underground utility locate ticket originates at the state One Call Center. They receive calls from excavators in advance of digging. The address or description of the dig area is then compared with utility facility lines in that area.

The "dig ticket" or underground utility locate request is sent to all utilities with facilities in the excavation area. Underground utility Locators for each utility receive these dig requests.

They mark the underground utility lines, commonly using spray paint and/or flags. The Locator then enters details about site markings and facilities into TransLore.

The worked ticket is sent from the Locator's laptop to the server, where it's stored in a central database.

The server then sends a positive response message back to the One Call Center or to the excavator [if required] so they know all of the utilities are maked and it's safe to dig.
